You are not expected to know everything about your subject, but you are expected to inform your work by developing the skill of identifying the information you need and locating it. At Cambridge, you have a much higher degree of independence and a far greater range of high quality resources to draw on, in the holdings of the University Library, the English Faculty Library and your College library. This can seem a little overwhelming at first - there is so much to choose from, more than you can possibly read, and much less guidance about what to read than you may be used to.
